Guiliana Rancic, Maria Menounos Go Head-To-Head At E!

(Photo:white prom dresses) A proverbial catfight is in the air over at E! between the network’s longtime anchorGuiliana Rancic and the latest addition to the news team, Maria Menounos, an insider confirmed to Confidenti@l.
“Maria was hired as a potential replacement for Giuliana, when Giuliana told the network that she wasn’t planning to stay on after her last contact expired,” the E! network source told New York Daily News’ gossip blog.
According to the insider, Rancic had a hand in the network hiring Menounos but after her recent family tragedy, she decided to put off leaving E! for another year.
“Giuliana is the queen of E! and a class act,” the insider adds. “After more than a decade with the -network, she told them of her plans and even helped them find a replacement. “But after her surrogate -suffered a miscarriage, ¬Rancic ¬decided to extend her deal.”
Rancic and her husband, Bill, revealed in June that Delphine, their surrogate, hadsuffered a miscarriage and said they were devastated over the loss of their supposed second child. The husband and wife welcomed son Duke in August 2012 also with the help of surrogate Delphine, Fox News reported.
Now, since Rancic is staying on for another year, Menounos will have to wait longer in order to step into the top E! news anchor position.
Instead, Menounos, former host of “Extra,” has been given her own one-hour entertainment news program, “Untold With Maria Menounos” in May, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. However, according to the E! network source, the show hasn’t raked in as many viewers as she would have liked and now Menounos wants a better position at the network.
“Maria wishes G had left like planned,” the insider told Confidenti@l. “She really wants to be the face of the network and that’s what she was counting on.
“Maria and Giuliana also share the same agent. And they are definitely a bit competitive. G has the perfect husband, a top anchor gig and a hit reality show (‘¬Giuliana and Bill’), and Maria is just newer to the network and has a budding reality show,” the source added.
The E! insider also said Rancic “wishes Maria the best” and believes she and Menounos can both shine in the same network.
“G would never be ¬dramatic or cause ¬problems at work, she is a pro and she’s been there for years,” the source confirmed. “Maria just has to find her groove, and hopefully her ratings pick up.”
